Scope note:
- This run uses the active shortlist in `data/universities.mjs`, which currently contains 10 universities.
- The older dossier in `docs/BaoNamEducation-Short.md` mentions additional schools, but they are not part of the current site shortlist.

Method note:
- Rankings are time-sensitive, so the values below were checked on March 24, 2026.
- For consistency, the main comparison uses Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 and THE Computer Science 2026 wherever a live page exists.
- "AI / Technology track" is treated as the closest public proxy available for these bachelor routes, usually `Computer Science`, not a literal undergraduate AI-only ranking.
- `Robotics` below refers first to the specific route represented in this repo, not every robotics lab or graduate program the university may also have.
- `École Polytechnique` needs a caveat: current public rankings are split between an older standalone page and the newer `Institut Polytechnique de Paris` umbrella. I note that explicitly instead of pretending the data is cleaner than it is.

## Per-University Notes

### Johannes Kepler University Linz

JKU is more credible on technical ranking than its overall world band suggests. If the decision is between `JKU` and `Klagenfurt`, JKU wins on ranking strength, but not on robotics specificity.

### University of Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt is not the strongest ranking-led pick, but it is the most distinctive programme-fit pick if the family wants `robotics + AI` in one direct English-taught undergraduate route.

### Aalto University

Aalto is the clearest Finland prestige-and-tech option. It does not beat the Hong Kong or top France names on ranking, but it is safely in the stronger half of the shortlist.

### Tampere University

Tampere is a credible technical university, but on rankings it reads more like a good-fit Finland option than a prestige-first one. If ranking matters heavily, Aalto is the stronger Finland bet.

### PSL University

PSL is one of the very best combinations in the whole shortlist if the user wants both strong overall prestige and a direct AI-facing academic story.

### École Polytechnique

École Polytechnique is elite, but the public ranking entity is genuinely awkward. For a family-facing shortlist, the honest phrasing is: `the school is elite, but current published global rankings often sit under the IP Paris umbrella rather than a clean standalone École Polytechnique line`.

### HKUST

HKUST is the strongest straightforward `technology-ranked` choice in the list. If the user wants the best clean public tech ranking plus English-medium, it is one of the clearest answers.

### CUHK

CUHK combines very strong general ranking with very strong CS ranking. It is arguably the most balanced `prestige + breadth + strong technical standing` option in the active shortlist.

### University of Passau

Passau should be framed as a value and environment pick, not a rankings pick. It can still make sense for cost, timing, and fit, but not because it dominates on prestige.

### FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg

FAU is the strongest German ranking name in the active shortlist and one of the best if the student wants engineering depth, autonomy systems, and industry linkage without moving into the much more expensive France or Hong Kong tier.
